Two wrong numbers

Since we're living in on-campus married student housing, our apartment came with a phone line. Most people still use my cell phone, but a few people use the apartment phone -- mostly just people from church, and my grandma who lives locally. Needless to say, we don't get many calls at that number.

Yesterday, though, I got two wrong-number calls. Weird.

The first was some guy calling for some girl named Jaelyn, I think. First of all, I don't know a Jaelyn. Second of all, she definitely doesn't live here. This poor guy was so confused. He asked me to verify the number he had dialed and read off the number he had intended to dial. Sure enough, he didn't mis-dial. I guess some girl just gave him a phony number? (No pun intended)

A few hours later the phone rang again. I answered it after a couple of rings. Here's how that conversation went:

Me: Hello?
Woman on the phone: Is this BYU?
Me: Umm...no...
Woman on the phone: Oh, sorry.

Butter

Tonight for dinner we had waffles. Quick, easy, and yummy! Just the way I like it. Anyway, for some reason, Husband got really excited about the butter. He put a LOT on his waffles. Not very good for you, but there you are. :)

Here's his reasoning: "Butter just makes things good. There are so many things that wouldn't be worth eating without butter . . . popcorn . . . corn . . . waffles . . . A lot of things lose their specialness without butter."

You get the idea.

My brothers

Today I went to the Creamery on Ninth to pick up a couple of things. For those of you who don't know, it's basically a little-bitty grocery store located on the edge of campus. Not a great selection, but it's the closest to where we live, and I was pretty sure all the stuff I needed would be there. So, off I went.

Well, on the way I noticed a lot of teenage boys playing catch or something outside the dorms I passed by. I was kind of confused for a second, and then I realized that it's EFY time already (EFY is a week-long summer-camp-type-thing for kids ages 14-18). They have taken over campus...again. :) Really I don't mind, they crack me up!

Side story: A few years ago I lived in a certain off-campus apartment during the summer. The fastest way to campus was through the dorms, where there were EFY kids galore. The little boys liked to hit on the older girls passing through. Fun times. End of side story :)

Anyway, the Creamery, which also has a grill and yummy ice cream, was absolutely FULL of EFY kids. I guess it was free time and they all wanted ice cream or a burger? And snacks for their dorm rooms. Lots of snacks. I saw a couple of boys buy no less than half a dozen boxes of Little Debbie snack cakes and cookies...Ridiculous. They'll probably be gone tomorrow, too.

Enough of the back story. I finished getting my stuff and went out to my car, where I texted my brothers to inform them that it's EFY time again. Brother2, who is 16, immediately texted me back.

"If you talk to any hott ones show them a picture of me and give them my number ;)"

What a funny kid. I told him I would (just to see how he'd react, because I figured he wasn't being serious), and he said, "I was joking but if you want to, go for it." :)

Brother1, who is turning 19 in a few months and will be beginning his two-year church mission then, said to start passing out pictures so the girls can see what they have to look forward to in 2 years. Again, he wasn't being serious.

But why would either of them be serious? They're my brothers, they're never serious.

I love those kids.

"He accordingly rubbed out the stain a second time, but the second morning it appeared again."

I'll have Husband get on later and post his results. Of course, that means that I'll have to find another book to put in this room (don't worry, I won't cheat :) haha) because there's only one in here and it would be lame for us to have the same results!

Bruises

I have turned into a very clumsy person in the last few weeks. Mostly I just hit my head on stuff with alarming frequency.

First I almost closed a car door on my head. The car was hooked up on a tow-dolly for the trip to Utah, and I had to get something out of it. When I went to close the door, I forgot that it was at a different angle than usual and that gravity would make it close faster than usual. So the corner clipped me behind the ear. Ow. That one hurt for a couple of days!

When we were moving our stuff into our apartment, I had to bend over a lot to pick up boxes, put boxes down, etc. Hit my head a couple of times then too.

In our shower-bath there are a couple of bars on the long wall. One is horizontal above the built-in soap dish thing, and the other is attached to it vertically. I'm not entirely sure why they're there. Anyways, I'm constantly hitting my head on the vertical bar when I bend down to pick up the shampoo or something. Husband hears me say "Ow!" and just starts laughing.

I've also hit my head on our bookcase a few times.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but it's kind of funny. I've never been this way before!

Visiting Texas

Here are a few pictures from our stopover in Texas on the way back to Utah. It was fun to visit family. It was good to see Husband's brother again, and I was excited to finally meet my sister-in-law and my nephew and niece!

Husband is very ticklish :) hehe

Playing in the flowers with my niece. This picture is one of my favorites.

Niece saw Nephew riding on Uncle's shoulders and decided she wanted a ride, too!

Playing in the sand. We would make a sand tower and then Nephew and Niece would smash it.

Watching the ducks on the pond. We later fed them, too.

Our wedding and more

Here they come...the promised pictures. I knew I'd post them...eventually. Enjoy!

At the Washington DC Temple the night of my endowment, the day before our wedding.

Coming out of the temple right after the wedding. Yay! (My brother put the camera in black-and-white mode, I'm not sure why).

With a bit of the temple in the background...too bad you can't see the spires! I loved my irises!

I didn't have any pictures on my camera of us with our families, sorry. When (if) I get some, I'll post them.

At the beach in Hawaii, where we honeymooned.

Still in Hawaii.

At the Laie Hawaii Temple. It was gorgeous both inside and out!

At the Polynesian Cultural Center, one of the most awesome things we did in Hawaii.

With the 17-ft U-haul (we were supposed to have a 10-ft, but they didn't have any, or any 14-fts, so we ended up with a 17-ft) we drove back to Utah. Long trip!

I took this one while we were stopped for gas, I think in Tennessee. Tennessee is one of the LONGEST states EVER, by the way...it took us something like 8 hours.

Husband drove nearly all the way, but here I am doing a little bit. I drove for a few hours through Texas and New Mexico. Talk about nerve-wracking..that's a big truck, and it had a car being towed behind it!

I also have a lot of pictures from the afternoon stopover we made in Irving, Texas, where Husband's brother's family lives. I'll have to do another post on that. Maybe not tonight, but soon!

We're Here!

Husband and I made it back to Utah on Wednesday after an eventful two weeks. A quick summary: We left P-town for NC on 22 April, got married in Washington DC on the 25th, had our reception in NC on the 26th, honeymooned in Hawaii from 27 April until 1 May, arrived back in NC on the 2nd, left to drive back to Utah on the 4th, spent the afternoon with Husband's brother's family on the 5th, kept driving and arrived in Provo on the 7th. Whew. Lots of traveling!

Anyways, this is just a quick "hello" to get the new blog up and running. Pictures and details and such are coming as soon as I get a computer in our apartment. My laptop is still broken, so we're going to rent a desktop from BYU, but it's too late to get one today so that will have to wait until Monday. But that's ok because there's not really anywhere to put it at the moment. I still have a LOT of unpacking to do! Hopefully we can get that done over the weekend...

And just so you know, we are very happy to finally be married and in our own place!
