Tomorrow we are leaving to go home to NC for a week for the holidays. We're pretty excited that we get to see our families!
I'm sitting here reading blogs and listening to Christmas music (Rejoice and Be Merry! from last year's Concert on Temple Square -- we got to go this year because one of our friends is in the Orchestra, and it was amazing, I'll have to get the CD when it comes out), but I really should be cleaning the apartment and packing for our trip. Our flight leaves at 7:10 AM tomorrow!
Hopefully I'll get it done...

Cake Wrecks Rock. No really, they do.
If you've never heard of the blog Cake Wrecks, you're missing out. This is a blog full of pictures of professional cakes gone "horribly, hilariously wrong" -- to quote the tagline. There are some classics here. Today's post was especially funny...the commentary is quite clever. Here's the permalink to today's post: When Gangsters Go "PC". Go there. Now. And then go through the archives. And laugh.

Joy to Everyone
An early Christmas present.
Go here. Watch the video. Read the story. It's beautiful. You won't regret it.
And pass on the joy.

Thanksgiving
Here we go, pictures and all!
It was so fun to be able to spend Thanksgiving with Husband's family. He is the youngest of 3 boys, all of whom are now married (the oldest got married just a month after we did). Though there was the usual family drama that is a part of nearly all extended family things, I think that overall the trip was a resounding success.
For more pictures and details, you can go to my sister-in-law Mommydew's blog. Her Thanksgiving post can be found here. There are some pretty fun pictures of Husband with our 4-year-old nephew! (Mommydew and I agree that they are basically twins born 19 years apart...she calls me all the time with stories about her son that end with "I'm raising [your husband]!" Plus, they even look alike.)
I don't really feel like writing out a bunch of details about what we did every second of every day that we were there. I'll let the pictures tell the stories. Unfortunately, I always either forgot to take my camera or forget that I have it with me whenever we were with Husband's other brother's family. I've got some cute ones of the others, though, as well as the group family portraits that we took on Saturday.
Maybe someday I'll feel like writing more details, but don't count on it. Just know that it was a wonderful vacation!
One night Niece wouldn't go to bed, so she came with me and Husband into Nephew's room (where we were staying) to read books. She read Fancy Nancy, and she handed me another book to read. Then we switched. Then we switched back. Then we switched again. You get where this is going...
Reading more Fancy Nancy. (If you've never heard of Fancy Nancy before--I hadn't before Mommydew mentioned them once--look it up, it's pretty cute.)
The book I was "reading." Dragons. Awesome.
Husband and Niece :)
Mommydew and Husband and I were able to do a session at the Dallas Temple on Saturday evening. (Kevin stayed home with the kids.) These aren't the best pictures because it was so dark, but at least they show that we were there!
This is how I took the last picture. They laughed at me. What, it was efficient!
Me and Husband and the Temple.
Being silly. (Husband's idea.)
Me and my sister[-in-law, but really just sister] and the temple.
Isn't she pretty?
[I have a picture of Husband and Mommydew, but it's turned the wrong way and I don't really feel like editing it right now. I'll post it later.]
The temple and its nativity, which I thought was beautiful. I have a closer-up of just that, but for the sake of shortening this post just a little bit, I'll refrain.
Now this is one sweet little girl! Also feisty.
I was trying to get a picture of the kids with their Granny and Papa, but as you can see, Nephew didn't cooperate. This one makes me laugh.
The kids wanted to take pictures. Niece took this one of me.
Nephew had to agree to the condition of letting me take this picture of him before I'd let him play with my camera...you know, a picture of him actually smiling instead of hiding. Cracked me up.
And here's the one he took of me. He caught me with a weird smile :)
The family portrait.
Father and sons.
And one of just us.

For Ashley
Here are the rules:
1. Link the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about six quirks you have, only 6!
4. Tag six fellow bloggers to do the same.
5. Leave a comment to let them know.
--------
SO I was tagged for something almost exactly like this more than a year ago on a different blog before I got married and started this one. I'm copy-and-pasting, but I'll add in some edits and such in a different color. This tag was to tell 6 random things about myself. Since most of those things were quirks anyways, I figure it counts :)
--------
1. When I eat, I chew my first bite with the left side of my mouth, and the second with the right side, and back and forth. I have to make sure that I will eat my last bite with the right side, even if I have to divide what's left into tiny bites. [It drives me nuts if this pattern somehow gets interrupted. I MUST bring balance back to the force! And by the force, I mean my existence.]
2. I always start walking with my left foot. I count my steps, too. Too much marching band in high school, I think. But I did this before that, so... [Are we noticing a pattern yet? BALANCE.]
3. I do things in multiples or 8, or more accurately, powers of 2. Eight is just my favorite [and since 8 is a power of 2, all multiples of 8 are also powers of 2, and therefore GOOD]. For example, if I'm eating something like Goldfish crackers or M&Ms, I get 8 at a time. I can eat 1 set of 8 (2^0) or 2 sets of 8 (2^1) or 4 sets of 8 (2^2) or 8 sets of 8 (2^3), but not 3 sets or 5 sets or 6 sets....you get the idea. So I can do something 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 (etc) times, but not 24 or 48 or 96, even though these are all multiples of 8. [My husband thinks it's hilarious to kiss me three times in a row and then dodge my efforts to get a fourth. IT KILLS ME. He plays the same game with 7.] [TMI?? sorry] [Also, I just realized that it is weird that I like 8 the most (2^3), but I don't like 3...I'll just call this another quirk. Even though I have finally (and I mean finally, it's taken forever) realized that this is weird, it doesn't change my feelings about the number 8.] [I'm so strange.]
4. I love to visit old cemeteries and could get lost in one for hours. I find them peaceful and calming, not creepy. If it is a cemetery where some of my ancestors are buried, I try to find them and remember how we are related. If it is a random cemetery, I like to look for the oldest grave I can find, or I read all the poems carved on the stones. They're really awesome poems, all about love and hope. [I haven't done this in a couple of months...I think a trip to Heber is in order!] [Heber City is this little bitty town here in Utah about an hour from where I live. Both of my mom's parents grew up there, and their families had been there for generations...I love that town, and the cemetery is simply wonderful.]
5. I have a stubborn streak a mile wide. [I deleted a bunch of stuff here because it isn't relevant right now. BUT I do have a stubborn streak, just ask Husband.]
6. I'm a bit of a clean freak when it comes to the kitchen. I can't explain it, it's just how it is. If the kitchen is dirty, I can't stand to be in it to cook, so I don't eat. When I have my own kitchen, it will always be clean. [I do ok at this, usually. But sometimes school catches up to me, and I find myself slacking...It's clean right now, though! And for the record, I still don't eat when it's not clean, because it still drives me absolutely crazy, and I hate it hate it hate it even when I don't have time to fix it.]
--------
EDIT(s):
(1) I originally had all my new comments in red, but then I published it and looked at it and it CLASHED HORRIBLY with my background, so I had to change it. I guess that's another quirk. (RE-EDIT: I think I have changed the color almost EVERYTIME I have changed my background.)
(2) Go look at the dash marks separating the sections of this post. You will notice that there are always exactly 8 of them.
--------
As far as tagging goes, I tag everybody who reads this, partly because I know there aren't many, and partly because I'm not really sure who they are...So if you read this and want to participate, go for it!

Made it
We've been home for almost 12 hours.
We left Texas yesterday around 1 pm, or noon Utah time. We got home at 8 this morning.
Then we slept until 2.
Then I skipped class.
And Husband got called in to a flood at work. Apparently he's on call. And there were people still at work, but he's the one that had to go do it. Poor guy.
I'll do a Thanksgiving post soon. And I'll do that tag, Ashley.
Hope you all had a good holiday!
