The kids in Nursery were really difficult today.
Now, don't get me wrong, they're still really cute. It's just that there were a lot of them today, and they had a lot of energy, and most of it was used up either fighting with the other children or crying for mommy.
There were 10-12 of them (it varied depending on how many we'd had to take back to their parents for a little while and how many had been brought back by their parents) and 4 adults.
The poor kids, they haven't had much stability in who is in charge this summer. So many people have been moving in and out, and it's caused a lot of inconsistency. As soon as we can get them back in a good schedule, I know they'll be just fine.
That is, just fine other than occasionally crying for mommy (or daddy, in one child's case...he never asks for his mom, just for his dad).

Why I am really tired right now, Part I
Yesterday we climbed a mountain.
We climbed up to Squaw Peak, which overlooks Utah Valley. It was a pretty fun hike. Well, once I got past the I-can't-breathe part. It wasn't the hardest hike I've ever done (that distinction will probably always lie with Mount Timpanogos, which I hiked almost 2 years ago), but it was challenging in its own right.
We hiked with two couples from our ward, the Rostrums and the Sharps. The Sharps had to leave early because Nate had to work, which was sad. But we and the Rostrums finally made it to the top after almost 4 hours of hiking. (It only took us two hours to make it down...going down is so much easier...)
All in all, it was a lot of fun. I'm glad we went...and that I made it! haha.
After almost 3 hours of hiking...yeah, I'm looking rough :)
A butterfly in one of the meadows near the peak.
Pretty meadow.
Us on the top of Squaw Peak. Husband decided it would be funny to hang his feet off the edge of one of the ledges...I was slightly less amused.
Tim and Jen, mountain climbers extraordinaire.
The Provo Temple.
Our apartment building is right in the middle of this picture.
View of Utah Valley from Squaw Peak.
I thought this mountain was very pretty. It's just south of Squaw Peak across Rock Canyon.

Rachel's Wedding
I mentioned the other day that we were going to my friend's wedding the next morning. Rachel invited us to the sealing in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony, of course, as they all are. I was so glad we were able to attend!
Afterward there were a lot of pictures to be taken. It was a pretty warm day, so I was glad we were in the shade the whole time. Rachel was gorgeous and she and her husband Alex were radiating joy. The luncheon was right after (yum). Husband was really excited...he was hungry!
Unfortunately I forgot my camera that morning, so I don't have any pictures of that part. The reception was that evening and I remembered it then!

Hoorah!
It's back.
Sometime between 3:30 (when I went to sleep) and 7:00 (when Husband got up to check), our water was turned back on.
I'm taking this as very good news :)
Thanks to Brad who was willing to help us out this morning. You're the best.

Water
We have no water, and I don't know why.
It randomly went off right around midnight.
We were not informed that our water would be turned off.
I hope this was just an oversight, and that it does not mean that there is something crazy going on with our plumbing.
Oh, and did I mention that we have a wedding to go to in the morning? In Salt Lake. And we have to leave by 9.
Yeah, the water better be turned back on. Soon.

Just some friendly advice
Some of you probably know that I don't sleep very well. I can go to bed when my husband does (around 11 or 12, depending on the night), but I'll lay awake until at least 3. Most nights I end up getting out of bed and reading in the second bedroom...anything to help me relax a bit. Some nights are a little better (or a little worse) than usual.
Last night was one of the "worse" nights. I didn't manage to get to sleep until around 4:30. I've made my schedule so that I don't ever have to be anywhere before noon, just in case I have a really bad night. That way I can sleep in until around 10 if I need it.
So I finally got to sleep around 4:30, and it wasn't a particularly deep sleep, either. I had several rather bizarre dreams. Husband always wakes me up around 7:15 when he's leaving for work, just to say goodbye. That doesn't bother me, I'm always able to get back to sleep easily for another couple of hours.
But it does bother me when my home phone rings at 7:59 am. (I think I've mentioned before that hardly anybody uses that number. Most people call my cell phone.) I have to get out of my bed after being asleep for about 3.5 hours and try to make my voice not sound too tired. Then I actually have to have an intelligent (or at least coherent) conversation with someone.
And it makes me even less happy when I can't see who is calling me. A call from an "unknown number" (that's what the caller i.d. said this morning) does two things simultaneously. First, it makes me really not want to answer because I don't know who I'm going to be talking to. Second, it makes me feel like I have to answer, because what if it's an emergency?
So here's my friendly advice: If you're going to call me at 7:59 in the morning, make sure you have a really good reason. And, whatever you do, don't just HANG UP as soon as I say hello!

The Long and Short of it
Yesterday I came home to a husband who was...wearing my shorts!
Now, these are men's gym shorts. And granted, they were once his.
But now they're a bit too short for him, so he gave them to me (they're a bit long and loose but really comfortable). So now they are mine, but he was wearing them...
I guess he just grabbed the closest thing to wear after his after-work shower (he gets really gross so I make him shower before I'll let him hug me, haha).
I got a good laugh out of it.

Of course, I panicked a little bit when I couldn't remember New Jersey...Oh well.
And then Husband and I tried to do the state capitols game together... we lost. We got all but 20, I think, which is not very good. But then, neither of us has even looked at them since we had to memorize them in the 5th grade.
We named them in 2 minutes and 20 seconds...the third time we tried. (The second time we only had 6 left.)
Now we're going to go do some of the other quizzes.
These are fun.

Hooray!
Our car is fixed!
It was the distributor. Getting it fixed cost us a pretty penny, but we have car again. Thank goodness.

Details
Jenilee asked for details about what happened to our car. Well, we don't really know. Husband thinks it might be a spark plug, but this tells me nothing. He was driving through town and it died in an intersection. He was able to get it started again (kind of) and managed to drive it just to the next light and take a right, where he proceeded to push it - by himself! - into the nearest parking lot. He called me and I found a couple of guys from our ward to take me to Husband and help us out. We couldn't get it to start again, so they pushed it (while I steered) onto the street because we couldn't leave it in that parking lot. So our car is currently parked on the side of the road in the middle of P-town. Since we just had it inspected and serviced a couple of weeks ago, Husband is going to go talk to the people about taking a look at it. Hopefully they'll be able to fix it!

Brother1
My younger brother got his mission call today (the 5th)!!
And he says I can tell people now. (I wasn't allowed to for a few hours so he could call everybody. But he texted me earlier and said I could tell now. So he gets his own blog post. :) ha)
Brother1 has been called to serve in the Colorado Denver North Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will report to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo on 8 October. He will spend a few weeks there preparing and will then spend the remainder of two years in Colorado serving the Lord. I think the mission includes a bit of Wyoming, as well.
So yes, Brittany, he might meet your parents :)
I can't believe my brother is old enough to go on a mission...
We are so proud of you! We know you'll be a great missionary. We love you so much!

Can I just say...
My husband is amazing. I've had a couple of not-so-good stressful days and he's just been so sweet. Some days I come home from school and all the dishes are done, even though he worked all day (I take evening classes, they're just better for me when I'm in a can't-sleep phase like I have been for the past YEAR...they usually don't last so long). Once he came home from work with a book that he knew I'd like. Sometimes I can even get him to give me a foot massage...but he has to be in a good mood for that one. Haha.
I love you, Husband!
