Jeric's latest doctor visit

Not a well-child check.

About a month or so ago I noticed a rash on Jeric's stomach. It didn't seem to bother him so I didn't worry about it for a while. I realized after a couple of weeks that it looked like my sister Anna's eczema.

I didn't think it was a reaction to anything because I hadn't changed our diets significantly around the time it started, and I hadn't changed soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener -- nothing.

It still doesn't seem to bother him, but it spread to his back and the backs of his arms, so I decided I wanted to get it checked out to make sure it wasn't more serious. Besides, Jeric is behind on his vaccinations and was due for another round.

So, we took him to the doctor today.

He weighs 19 pounds 13 ounces.

The last girl who measured his length was incorrect (I'm not surprised, she seemed to be struggling and he was pretty wiggly). He is actually 27.5 inches now. Even though it wasn't a well-check visit, she went ahead and measured him for me :)

After I explained that I thought it was eczema but wasn't sure because it wasn't in the same places as my sister's (hers is all in the creases -- like elbows, behind the knees) and didn't seem to bother him (I remember her being miserable and itchy), the doctor took one look and said, "Yes, that's eczema."

He gave us a prescription for a steroid cream to use intermittently and told us what kinds of lotions to try -- "The greasier, the better."

I'm glad it's not more serious -- this is just a minor inconvenience.

He also did very well with the 2 shots he got -- the first he just whimpered, the second he cried but was fine after we held him for a few minutes and he slept in the car.

Actually, he's getting a little irritable now so I'm going to go see what Mommy can do for him.

Poor baby. Tell him cousin Kieralee had the same thing, so we know the inconvenience.

I'm so excited that your move is so close. Let me know if you need anything.

James had exczema his first winter, but has been fine since. He also has nut allergies. I guess the two can go hand in hand. James would get bad rashes on his face, usually on Sunday when we would see the most people! :)

Hi, Kathryn and family! I love your blog. I'm thinking about making one myself, but I don't get on Facebook as it is so I'm not sure if a blog would be updated well...

So good to see y'all are doing well. I'm glad you're moving back to NC! Where are you going to be after this summer?

Maybe we can get together and go to the temple or something. That would be nice; I haven't been in a while since Orinn is nursing and doesn't take bottles yet--we need to work on that...

Love you!

Thats how I am, I have eczema all over my whole body. I only break out when I'm stressed or if my skin is irritated (any material that is not cotton) did she give you triamcinolone cream? That stuff is awesome! Good luck! My sister and I are the only ones in my whole family that have it, I hope I don't pass it to my kids, my mom said I was so miserable as a baby!

Well, his cousin Isaac has the same stuff. He's gets really bad and he's had it since he was just a few weeks old. Hopefully you can get Joshua's under control now and it won't bother him too bad the older he gets! We're just now getting Isaac's under control and he's 4! Hope he's doing better!
