Here are a couple of things that I saw on campus the other day.
(1) The quickest way to get to my Monday afternoon class is through the BYU Bookstore. The other day as I approached the entrance (for those of you who know the layout, I'm talking about the one by womens' clothing), I saw a line of people blocking the doorway. After a struggle to get through, I looked over to see what was the holdup. I saw a woman holding a camera facing a man and two women posing for a picture. All the people in the doorway were standing in line for a picture! Since I couldn't see who it was, I looked around for a sign. And then I wanted to go back and stand in line. Because, "OH MY HECK IT'S KIRBY HEYBORNE!!" I'm being sarcastic here. But it really was Kirby. I'm just not that silly :)
(2) Some people have absolutely no sense of what items of clothing should and should not be worn together, even when they're trying to keep up with current "fashion" (I use that term loosely because what is "fashionable" or "trendy" right now is really awful). Case in point: I saw a girl who was wearing this ensemble:
-shiny/sparkly mustard yellow flats/sneakers
-black and white diagonally checked asymmetrical knee-length skirt
-bright pink tshirt
-purple chunky necklace
-bright blue scarf wrapped several times tightly around her neck and tied there
-early 90s glasses, and I'm pretty sure the glass was fake.
Personally, I don't think that any of these pieces should be worn, ever, let alone in combination! But I'm not judging her. I just think she's a little...misguided. And this sort of thing is normal!
I'm an awful person. Shame on me.

An update
It's been a couple of weeks since I actually sat down to write a blog post. But, I have been keeping a list! So hold onto your hats, people, because it's going to be a whirlwind of a ride!
Or probably not.
My life isn't that exciting.
But there will be several posts coming in the next few days, so watch out for 'em.
PS to Jenilee - You've commented on my last post ... what, 3 times? Sorry about that. Now when you have a reply to some comment I make on one of your posts, you have somewhere new to put it! Hurrah!

Bug bites
I have three of them. On my face.
One is on the side of my nose, almost in the corner of my eye.
The other two are right next to each other, smack in the middle of my forehead.
They itch.

Ruth
Ruth came over this afternoon. She had a random set of queen-size sheets/comforter etc. that she doesn't need/want (her bed is a twin). Apparently her mother forced her to take it. So she gave it to us :)
And when she brought that over, she stayed to visit for a while.
One problem: She had to be at work at 1:30. In Spanish Fork. And she didn't get to my house until 12:15-ish. And we talk a lot.
I finally had to kick her out a little after 1.
I wonder if she made it to work on time?

My mother is not being nice
When I say "not nice," I mean she's been picking on me.
So I called my mom to tell her stories about my day, which has been a good day, but quite long and rather stressful. I just got off the phone with her. We'd been talking for almost an hour. I think my call summary said 52 minutes. This is normal. We are both random, talkative people. It's fun. We would've talked longer, but she abandoned me. For her mother. Who is quite a bit like both of us in the talkative department. Those fragments were intentional. Also, I'm not upset that my mother is talking to my grandma instead of to me. Besides, she'll call me back :)
Exhibit A of "My mother is not nice."
1. She informed me that she wished I was there because she was just taking some warm blonde brownies out of the oven. Ok, that was so not fair. I could go for a blonde brownie, oh yes, I could. Oh, and then she went on and on about how she had brownies she wished she could share with me. Yeah right.
2. Sometimes when I am stressed out I rant. Actually, I always rant when I am stressed out. I get very animated and talk very fast and jump from topic to topic and just generally don't make a whole lot of sense. I mentioned this to Mama and asked if she could understand me. She said, "Usually I can't, but right now I can." NOT TRUE, and not nice. Then she laughed at me, like she had just said the funniest thing ever.
3. Later on in the conversation, she informed me that she was eating a warm blonde brownie. Somehow the word "warm" makes it sound so much more delicious. (Is that just me?) Then she's all, "Can you smell it on my breath?" And then she breathed loudly into the phone.
Q.E.D.
(Latin. Quod erat demonstrandum. "That which was to be demonstrated." Basically, I've just shown you what I meant to show you.)
(Or you could pretend it stands for quod ego dico, which basically means "because I said so." Take your pick.)
