March 2012, Part 2

March 25 was my 25th birthday, and we celebrated by blessing Rosebud in church that day (kind of like a christening in other Christian churches). Several family members were able to come, so it was a special day. Husband, my dad, Husband's dad and brother, Husband's grandfather, and my uncle were all able to participate in the blessing, along with our bishop. My sister-in-law took all these pictures after church at our house.

The whole group, minus my aunt and uncle who had to leave church early. I wish Papaw wasn't hidden, and I have no idea what Jeric was trying to do.

Weirdo.

"See my muscles!"

Family. Jeric got that bruise from falling down at the playground and hitting his head on a metal bar just a few days before this.

Hugs.

And done.

Daddy and Rosebud.

Mommy and Rosebud.

And then we did a little impromptu photo-shoot. This blanket is the same white blanket that we used for Jeric's baby blessing. We've decided to make it a tradition. And that's the only time we're using the blanket, because I just don't want it to get ruined!

March 2012, Part 1

March was a fairly uneventful month up until the end. I was getting back to normal after more than 40 weeks of pregnancy and subsequently birthing a (gorgeous) baby. Husband was in school and working (nights). Jeric was adjusting to having to share his parents with his sister (he was never upset that she was there, though; he has always *loved* his sister and wanted to help with her, etc.). Rosebud, of course, was growing growing growing and eating and sleeping a lot. We mostly took it easy, though we frequently went for walks around the neighborhood.

Cute pictures from March:

 Hahahahaha.

Just home from a walk. (I promise her face was uncovered and her airway was clear! I keep a really close watch on that sort of thing.)

He fell asleep. And he was all.over.that.chair.

February 2012

Obviously the most exciting thing that happened in February was Rosebud's birth. I found a post I wrote that day but never published and added some pictures to it and back-published it yesterday; it can be found here. And in case you missed it, here is a link to her birth story. (I think it's a pretty good one!)

Here are some other pictures from that month.

Daddy getting Rosebud dressed to go home from the birth center. She was probably 3.5-4 hours old here.

The next several are from the day Rosebud was born, after we got home.
Snuggling with Grandma.

Grandpa kisses.

Cousin Kiera.

Cousin Lathen.

Aunt Joni (who was very much not wanting to be pregnant anymore, since BOTH her pregnant relatives had given birth that same day).

Two days old.

Two days old.

Two days old, and proof that 9-lb babies don't ever fit in newborn-size clothes (I had been given quite a few N outfits from ladies at church, so I changed her outfit several times a day for the first few days, just so I could say she'd worn them all. Ha.)

Jumping on Mom and Dad's bed (sheets were being washed; he loves the memory foam mattress pad).

Two days postpartum! And still feeling great :)

Wrestling.

And sword-fighting.

Nene snuggles. (I never recorded this here, somehow, but Jeric wasn't able to say "Granny" when he was younger (under two), so he said Nene [pronounced like "knee-knee"] instead and it stuck.)

Peeking at Papa through one eye.

With Aunt Anna. Four days old.

Napping. Four days old.

Jeric fell asleep in the car when we were running some errands, so they both took a little nap when we got home.

Sister kisses; Rosebud is 5 days old.

Jeric and Grandma.

 Six days old and bright-eyed.

Resting on Mommy; 8 days old.

I didn't put her hood over her eyes like that, but I thought it was hilarious when we got home and I saw it.

Sandwich.

Propped; 10 days old.

Rosebud and her cousin (in utero here and here). Rosebud was 11 days old, and baby D was 1 day old. (Pardon the hole in my jeans; I was 11 days postpartum and my old ripped play-on-the-floor-with-the-kids jeans were the only ones that fit.)

Jeric's "tiny snowman" -- the only time all winter that it snowed enough to do even this much.

What Rosebud did while Jeric was playing in the snow.

In the snow with Papa.

One of Jeric's Christmas presents last year was the Little People Nativity Set. One day all the people/animal pieces disappeared (the stable and other "scenery" pieces were still on the shelf). It was several days before we found them...in Husband's sock drawer!
