On cleaning ovens and dishes

A family in our ward just moved to another apartment within the ward. They have until tomorrow to finish the cleaning of their old apartment and get checked out. He works all day and she's 8 months pregnant. Needless to say, she can't clean it all by herself! So today a bunch of Relief Society sisters went to help her clean. Everybody just took a job and stayed as long as they could.

I had the stove/oven.

I scrubbed it for 2.5 hours!

Yeah, it was fun. Seriously, I loved the chance to get to know a few of the ladies in the ward a little better.

And really, it was only my hands that suffered. They were rather shriveled and dry by the time I got home! But I think it was worth it.

Plus, I have Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion. If you haven't tried that stuff, do it. It's amazing and has saved my life more than once. My last roommate, Ruth, recommended it to me and I fell in love! :) haha.

In other news, I made a particularly big dinner tonight. Let's just say I wasn't too excited to do the dishes by the time I was done! And we don't have a dishwasher. So at dinner I asked Husband if he would "mind helping me with the dishes." Because he is a wonderful husband, he said of course he didn't mind.

A few minutes later I started feeling guilty and thought I should probably confess. Here's how that conversation went:

Me: Just so you know...when I say "will you help me with the dishes?" I mean I'd like you to do them for me.

Husband: Are you going to dry them as I wash them?

Me: Umm...sure.

Husband: Then yes, I'll do the dishes.

Haha. I told him that I thought I should clarify my expectations! He said that he would do them and dry them if I asked him to. What a good husband!

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird where you live is called a "ward"?

Maybe not.

Ohh, and thanks for the heads up on the Honor Code situation...I completely understand why you told me about it ;)!

Miss and love you!! Say hey to your hubby for me (wow...that still sounds strange to me...in the greatest way possible).

We call our church congregations "wards." It's basically just a geographical district of people who go to church together.

Oh, and Relief Society (or RS) is the women's organization. We do service projects and activities and such.

I love the dishes story. Cory teases me for using "we" a lot. I'll say things like, "Do you think we need to move the water hose around to the back yard?", meaning, of course, that I want him to do it. So its become a big joke as to whether I mean "we" as "we" or "we" as "you". :)
